OUR STORY.
Back in June 2023, two friends of 20 years, David and Sam, were having a discussion over a beer about the state of managed IT services and the lack of value that providers were offering. Both had worked in the industry for a long time in different roles. David focused on Sales and Customer Management, and Sam focused on Technical Support and Project Management. They had both worked in senior positions for MSPs and seen great and not so great services delivered. There was a huge opportunity to modernise how providers interacted with their customers and the types of services that they offered. The world had changed. There was no need to focus on keeping systems running any more. Most people were moving or had moved to the Cloud. The Cloud providers now managed system uptime, and MSPs hadn’t modernised their services to reflect this and offer something of real value in today’s modern environment. Chatting with business leaders from a wide range of businesses, it became apparent that they felt the same. They didn’t just want their systems to stay up and running; they wanted their technology to help them actively achieve their business goals. The problem was, they didn’t know how. From this, the idea of Atomyc was born. An MSP that not only provided reactive IT support and management services but also services that helped businesses use technology to grow and be easier to manage.
As they explored the idea, it became apparent that the reason businesses were not using tech to its maximum potential wasn’t because they didn’t invest in it. Quite the opposite, many companies had spent a fortune on their technology and continued to do so every month through cloud and software license fees. The real enemy was that when technology got installed, its full set of features was rarely implemented. People using the system were not aware of its capabilities, and if they were, they didn’t understand how to use it. The problem was a lack of business-wide technology adoption. A lack of technology adoption seemed to be holding businesses back, and you could argue, by extension, the whole economy! From here the concept of Accelerator Programs was born. Sam and David designed Accelerator Programs to systematically help businesses adopt technology, aiming to improve five areas that make the biggest difference in how technology enhances business performance. These five areas are efficiency, productivity, collaboration, security and resilience. They created a model that could increase business adoption of technology and measure this adoption objectively, and they call this the Technology Maturity Model. These services stand to redefine what customers should expect from their managed service provider by adding real value to growing companies.

“I’ve spent over two decades in the MSP industry, filling a wide array of roles, from hands-on technical support to strategic service delivery, project management, business development, and advising on information security.
My fascination with technology started at six years old with our family’s first computer, igniting a passion that has lasted a lifetime. Throughout my teen years, I explored application development, website creation, and ethical hacking. My career path has been just as varied, with one of my notable achievements being the establishment of a small data center before the era of giants like Microsoft and Amazon took over the public cloud space.
I’m deeply passionate about developing high-quality managed services. My primary focus has been on tailoring our offerings to meet the specific needs of our customers, ensuring our managed service packages are comprehensive and user-friendly. For the past decade, I’ve dedicated myself to working directly with clients, helping them integrate technology into their operations in a way that supports their business goals.
Besides my professional life, music holds a special place in my heart. I’ve played electric guitar in various bands. I’ve also completed over 600 skydives and have more than 20 hours of wind tunnel experience.“
SAM DAVIES.

“With more than twenty years in the IT field, I’ve built a diverse set of skills, from frontline tech support to leading roles in service delivery and project oversight. My adventure with technology started at 12, when I began assembling computers, sparking a passion that’s lasted through the years. This enthusiasm drove me to earn a diploma in IT, followed by a degree in Computer Science.
My career has been marked by both technical contributions and strategic vision. I’ve been instrumental in crafting and managing cloud infrastructures, showcasing my detail-oriented approach and technical savvy. My expertise also spans software development, with solid skills in C#, JavaScript, and Python, alongside a strong capability in database architecture and development.
A key personal value is the sharing of knowledge and expertise, which has been a guiding light in my professional journey. I led an initiative to improve internet access in small communities, a project that not only succeeded but also highlighted my dedication to using technology to benefit others.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about golf and music. I bring the same meticulous attention to refining my golf swing and playing the guitar as I do to my professional projects. These hobbies serve as a creative escape and embody my belief in maintaining a balance between professional success and personal satisfaction“
JIM HARRIS.

“Jim has worked in the Protection Industry in the UK and Ireland since 1984, when he established a small company providing services to Income Protection Insurers to help validate the then growing number of claims.
In 1993, in partnership with a leading international reinsurer, Jim set up Health Claims Bureau, (HCB Group) which was amongst the pioneers of Early Intervention Services, as a management tool for Income Protection Claims Managers.
Over the years HCB Group, using its national networks of Clinical Case Managers, has developed a suite of Employee Health Management services which are now provided to Employers as well as Insurers, with a clear focus on enabling optimum return to work for absentees and disability insurance claimants, particularly in cases of subjective or self-reported illness, (such as stress or anxiety). HCB Group has clipped Wellness at Work, Absence Management, Rehabilitation and Return to Work Services on to provide a portfolio of Employee Health services designed to redefine the traditional Occupational Health model.
Aside from its UK base, HCB has established operations in the Republic of Ireland, and more recently in Australia and South Africa.
HCB Group also provides a full outsourcing service for the management of closed books or self-insured insurance schemes and are specialists in the assessment of applications for Ill Health Early Retirement under pension schemes.
Jim is a member of the UK’s Income Protection Task Force (IPTF), the Investment & Life Assurance Group (ILAG), the Health Claims Forum (HCF), and a contributor to industry conferences and events that service the insurance, and HR communities through the activities of HCB Group.”
